An Instant Pot is also known as an electric pressure cooker. This nifty little appliance will help you cook your food up to 70% faster.
Today we are going to cook perfectly tender black beans that are ready in about an hour with just a few ingredients and no soaking is required.
- 1 cup of rinsed black beans
- 1/4 onion with skin on
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 cups of water
Put all of your ingredients in the instant pot.
Secure the lid, press Pressure Cook — select High, and set the timer for 30 minutes. It will take about 8 minutes to pressurize and then the cooking will begin.
When the Instant Pot timer goes off, set a separate timer for 20 minutes and allow the steam to release naturally (that means don’t push any buttons).
Carefully remove the lid of the pressure cooker. Remove the onion. Now strain the beans.
Now enjoy perfectly cooked beans!
